CWD Real Estate Investment said today that New York-based West Elm will open a store at Breton Village in Grand Rapids.
The interior build out will begin next month on the 10,000-square-foot space. The opening date was not disclosed. The shop will be the first West Michigan location for West Elm. The retailer operates a store in Birmingham. West Elm will sell a range of home décor items: bedding, rugs, lighting, mirrors, frames, baskets, vases, bath accessories, dinnerware and more.christmas decorating office ideas competition The store will also sell West Elm LOCAL products by Michigan-based artists and designers.christmas tree store south portland me West Elm joins other shops that entered the West Michigan market via Breton Village: Anthropologie and lululemon.tag home decor chicago
Grand Rapids-based CWD acts as the leasing and property manager for Breton Village. The shopping center is owned by Scott Wierda, CWD managing partner, and Jade Pig Ventures partner Brian DeVries. “West Elm beautifully complements the retail mix we’ve been developing at Breton Village and continues the transformation of this area as Grand Rapids’ fashion and specialty retail district,” Wierda said. pictures of christmas decorations in the philippines“Breton Village is located in a mature and vibrant residential community where a diverse population has welcomed the strong mix of national specialty stores and fine local retailers.”benjamin moore paint for exterior Wierda said that Breton Village draws shoppers from “as far away as Traverse City and Kalamazoo” and has fostered a “strong and loyal customer base throughout the region.”benjamin moore exterior paint images

The stores are the first At Home stores in the country, said Stacey Sullivan, a spokesperson for At Home. “At Home is brand new," Sullivan said. The stores carry more than 50,000 home décor items and follow an “everyday low-pricing model,” Sullivan said.
“Many stores carry home décor, but none the size of our big stores,” Sullivan said. “Where another big-box retailer might carry six varieties of patio cushion, we carry 60.” The stores will bring more than 45 jobs to the community. Applications are still being accepted at both locations for full- and part-time positions. The Jenison store, which was previously a Target, is in an 87,000-square-foot space, at 334 Chicago Dr. The store is close to a strong residential population, which makes perfect sense for a home décor brand, Sullivan said. “We maintain a highly flexible site-selection model — we own, lease and build new stores to support growth — which allows us to be opportunistic when sites like these become available,” Sullivan said. The Kalamazoo store, which was previously a Kmart, is in a 78,000-square-feet space, at 4620 Stadium Dr. The area is enjoying significant retail growth, which made it an ideal fit for the brand, Sullivan said.
