Welcome to the fifth episode of Inspired Interiors. If you’re new to the series then basically we take a Tiger Sheds building and decorate it with a stunning interior decor scheme! This month we hope to inspire you by transforming a Tiger Sunlit Chalet into Festive Cheer! Why we chose this product. We chose the 8×10 Tiger Sunlit Chalet for this decor scheme as we think it has a traditional, ‘Christmassy Grotto’ feel about it. As we wanted even more of a Christmas Grotto look we also upgraded the building to loglap cladding, which gives the effect of actual logs stacked on top of each other, so a beautiful look for Christmas. You can see the loglap cladding in our exterior concept image below. Our inspiration for this festive decor scheme comes from traditional log cabins which you may find in The Swiss Alps and German Christmas Markets. As we just love how cosy and traditional these cabins look, especially in their winter surroundings! So we’ve tried to adapt the look of these cabins for both our exterior and interior design schemes.
As for the Christmas decorations, we’ve gone for mostly traditional items but with added novelty pieces to keep it fun. How Festive Cheer is designed to please all the senses: There’s no doubt that this decor scheme will make you feel warm, festive and cheerful. Even before you enter the building you will feel ‘Christmassy’, as the exterior looks like something from a winter wonderland with the loglap cladding and roof overhang which is just asking for snow! Although we’ve used an artificial tree and wreath in our concept image, if you would be OK with the upkeep, it would be a great idea to embed live plants into your Christmas decor. We spoke with plant experts from Monrovia regarding adding live plants to your Christmas decor, they said; ”We love the idea of weaving live plants into your holiday decor, especially since the idea of chopping a tree down only to toss it out a few weeks later just doesn’t sit right with us. You could create a winter wonderland effect by adding plants such as conifers, dogwoods, and grasses, which capture frost and ensures you’ll have something to look at between the glory of fall foliage and the glittery glam of a coat of snow.”
During the festive period, generally, all you want to do is snuggle, relax and enjoy your festive surroundings. That’s why we’ve added a cosy blanket into our Festive Cheer concept image so you can stay warm in your Grotto. Not to mention those modern armchairs, which not only add a more contemporary touch to the room but will also be really comfortable to sit and relax in. There are many smells which remind us of Christmas… cinnamon, gingerbread and fresh pine cone! And there are many ways in which you can bring these smells into your garden building, such as with candles (always under supervision), Christmas decorations made from pine cones or festive room sprays. Christmas for a lot of people is also a really nostalgic time of year, so consider what smells remind you of Christmas from when you were younger and try to recreate them in your space somehow. We spoke with Interior Designer Allison Grimes regarding creating festive smells in a room, she says;
”Nothing beats the scent of gingerbread cookies or eggnog to emulate that Christmas feel.” Christmas time is the perfect excuse to indulge in delicious food and tasty treats without feeling guilty! Whilst relaxing inside your festive garden building you could enjoy some mince pies or a lovely piece of chocolate yule log, plus, you can keep your treats well away from prying eyes! It’s also becoming increasingly more popular to make edible Christmas decorations! home decor accessories dubaiExperts from Real California Milk suggests some ideas for edible Christmas decor;outdoor christmas decorations christian ”Deck the halls with edible decor. living room store kingston
A cheese wreath multitasks as a crowd pleasing display and an appetizer. Tip: Make the bow from phyllo dough and add candied cranberries for color. Or, wow guests with the new gingerbread house, snow globes. Craft a memorable dessert that will be talked about well into the new year with a winter wonderland of snow globes made from food.” Around the festive period everywhere feels a lot busier. So it’s nice to find some time for yourself, to simply relax and have a moment away from it all.home decor wholesale for retailers Your festive garden building can be the perfect environment for that, as it’s away from the house but not too far that you need to commute.christmas decorating ideas for banquet It will be quiet and calm so you can just enjoy some much needed ‘me’ time.vintage home decor calgary

There are plenty of ways to decorate your house, and using homemade decorations is a great way to make your home that little bit more unique and save money.
Are the kids off from school? Why not get together as a family and create some fantastic Christmas decorations to either use yourself, or perhaps give as gifts? All using items you can find in the garden. Here are a few of my favourite Christmas decoration ideas and how to decorate your house and garden for the festive season this year! I use lots of light around my home, both inside and outside. Of course fairy lights look great on your tree, wrapped around your banister or even draped from your ceiling but I love using lights in different forms as well. Lanterns look great outside your front door and create a great ambience if there’s enough of them. I like to leave the outside light off and use the lanterns as the main source. If you have any plants like conifers outside the front of your house, these look great with lights on too – you could even add some glass or plastic baubles if you want to get a bit more sparkle. Another unique way of lighting would be to use Mason jars filled with fairy lights in a garland and hung up around either the inside, or outside of your home.
You can also create a fantastic winter container to pop on your porch with small holly plants, skimmias or red berry Gaultherias! There are loads of things you can pick up in the garden or cheap items from the store to make some lovely homemade decorations. Making decorations at home can be a lot of fun, especially if you can get the whole family involved! When you’re next out on your walk, collect up some pine cones and take them home. Pop them on some towel or kitchen roll in a dry place. Once the pine cones are completely dried out, there’s loads you can do to turn them into decorative items, here are just a few ideas: Decorate them with glitter or snow frosting and attach string to hang on your tree Bleach them – mix one part water with two parts bleach and submerge the pinecones for 24hours, attach string or ribbon and hang from wherever you want Paint the pinecones and use them as place cards on the table Use the plain pinecones as a decorative arrangement in a vase or bowl
Pick up twigs and sticks of varying shapes and sizes. Dry these out in the same way you would pine cones, and use these to create fun and pretty decorations. If you’re feeling super creative, get some strong glue and make little reindeer ornaments Get some string and create stick trees, stars or snowflakes – check out the ideas on my Pinterest board. The smell of cinnamon makes me think of Christmas, and I love to use it as decorations around the house. Get hold of some cinnamon sticks from your local shop and try these ideas: Arrange them around candles and tie with some ribbon Bunch some up and tie with twine to hang on the tree, you can also make stars or other shapes You can also use cinnamon sticks in bundles with decoration on as door hangers too Homemade decorations are an inexpensive way to have a personal touch to your décor this Christmas. Why not add some festive decoration outside, while also catering for birds over the winter?
Check out my how to make a fat ball guide and make into a different shape form a ball instead – you could create a dove or a Christmas tree using a stencil or cookie cutter. It would still need to be quite thick though to hold the string for hanging purposes. WreathsMaking your own Christmas wreath isn’t too troublesome, and they look great and unique when you’ve made them yourself! Decorations to use on a wreath Get hold of some floral wire, flat wire rings, craft glue, work gloves and all the plants or decorations you plan to use Take the flat wire ring, which can be purchased from lots of hobby stores or garden centres and start to bundle your greenery together and wrap the wire tightly around the stems and pole. Do this the whole way around Once you have filled the whole wire with greenery, ensure that none of the wire is showing and all the bunches are secure Take your decorations and add them to the wreath using floral wire or glue and design exactly as you want!
